Ratio [Example]
*Rice Vinegar 4 [200ml]
*Sugar 2 [100g]
*Salt 0.5 [25g]
*Dried Kelp Sheet x 1 (optional)
With this amount of sushi vinegar, you can make about 18 inside-out rolls (California roll type, half a seaweed sheet). If you cannot use all the vinegar at once, you can store it in a cool, dry area to use next time.
Directions :
Put all the ingredients into a saucepan and bring the mixture almost to a simmer over a low heat, but don't allow it to boil. Stir the mixture until the sugar and salt have dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. Store in cool, dry area.
If you don't have time to make homemade sushi vinegar (すし酢) to season your steamed rice (for making sushi), you can purchase sushi seasoning (すし酢) at Japanese / Asian grocery stores. It's quite a convenient condiment to have in your refrigerator if you frequently make sushi at home.
* You can purchase already mixed sushi vinegar at Coles, Woolworths and Asian Shops.
Just make sure it says Sushi Seasoning Vinegar.
